Due to decreasing local authority budgets, EPC wishes to develop new sources of support by partnering with businesses: we wish to engage their enthusiasm and expertise in areas including workplace fundraising, IT and marketing support. Corporate and product donations to support our competitions and family activities would also be welcome. In return, EPC offers publicity opportunities, the chance to volunteer with us, and regular opportunities to meet staff and clients, and see our work in action.
Demand for EPC’s services overall has increased by 30% in the last twelve months and will continue to grow steeply as more local people feel the pressure of job insecurity, and continued rises in the cost of living.
Since the late 90s, Enfield has faced a steady increase in disadvantaged families from a variety of ethnic backgrounds moving to the Borough. Locally, child poverty continues to increase, yet the national trend of child deprivation is declining. Now, more than one third -36% -of the 76,415 children resident in the Borough are living in poverty.*
*(Enfield Child Poverty Assessment and Strategy,
December 2010).
Without EPC, there would be…
- more children failing
to achieve their basic potential as employable young adults and responsible
future parents
- less family happiness
in deprived areas of Enfield
- more instances of
juvenile delinquency and teenage crime
- more cases of
depression among disadvantaged parents
Seventy five percent of the families we have engaged with have told us that we have been instrumental in helping to resolve the problems they faced. Three percent of parents have become volunteers for EPC, gaining skills and confidence, and helping us in many ways.

PROJECTS AND FUNDING
Family Activities
We run a wide range of activities which help to bring families together. These include social and cultural day-trips, gardening, nature study, craft and painting sessions, and family cookery. It costs £150 to run a family art and craft session, and £965 to run a seaside coach trip to Southend.
Parenting and Training
Our parenting courses and workshops increase self-confidence and practical knowledge. It costs £1,345 to run a group parenting course (six sessions).
Counselling Service
The EPC counselling service offers subsidised short and long-term support for individual adults, couples, and groups. It enables us to help many people who, after counselling, receive additional benefit from other EPC services. It costs £380 to run six one-to-one counselling sessions.
Father Service
Demand for EPC’s highly effective Father Service has increased a massive 70% in the last twelve months. We run a Young Father Advice Group, a weekly FatherSpace group, a Father & Children Club, and social activities such as football. It costs £950 to run six group workshops for fathers.
