Children's Centres Service
The Children’s Centres’ service is for parents of children aged 0–5 years. Whether you are looking for extra parenting support and information, or just want to take part in the activities, this service offers many different options of support for you to pick and choose. These include:
- Fortnightly Action for Parents
- Weekly surgeries
- Parents group meetings
- Fun activity days
- Award ceremonies
Action for Parents is a drop-in service for families and provides an easy way to meet new people and make new friends! This group offer:
- Activity days for parents and children
- Information days
- Learning workshops
Weekly Surgeries are a good way to seek out extra advice and support, and get individual time with the team. These provide 1 to 1 advice and support and access to group meetings.
Action for Parents drop-in sessions occur on Tuesdays and are run in a range of different Children’s Centres in the Borough.
So far there have been events at the following Children’s Centres:
SureStart Edmonton Children’s Centre
Prince of Wales Children’s Centre
Galliard Extended School and Children’s Centre
Tottenhall Children’s Centre
A range of different topics and activities have been run in these centres including arts, crafts, and summer outdoor activities. Information days and workshops have dealt with such issues as healthy eating, bullying and domestic violence. Recently we have added ‘Chatter Matters’ which develops good communication skills with children, in order to enhance their speech and language before they reach school!
